A recent analysis by industry leading app analytics firm Flurry shows that when it comes to iPads the heavy users are: “Pet Owners”, “Small Business Owners” and no surprise “Mums”.
Flurry analytics measures activity on almost 400 million iOS devices and for this analysis used a random sample of over 40,000 iPhone and iPad users.
Perhaps more interesting and reaffirming of the current role of iPads is how the ratio of average time spent on iPads against iPhones is greater when it comes to education, newsstand, games, reference, entertainment, travel and sports apps.
These findings fall into place as we see some Oomph powered apps, such as Coles Magazine iPad App becoming the most downloaded iPad magazine in Australia. Coles Magazine is an app that meets both the “mums” user segment and “newsstand” as one of the categories iPad users spent the most time on.
The emergence of these detailed demographic usage profiles are proving to be invaluable to marketers by allowing them to identify if an iPad app is the right channel for their content. Products and services that are of interest to these high use segments are a very strong indicator that these companies should definitely be active in the tablet channel.
Now you tell us, does your target market fit within these demographic profiles or your product is in any of these categories?
