The Oomph powered App Experience the Highs, as part of a unified marketing initiative run by Armidale Durmaresq Council, has won it’s second award for 2012 – The Northern Inland Innovation Award for Tourism/Leisure and Related Services.
Tony Broomfield, Project Manager – Economic Development, Tourism & Marketing, who accepted the award said in his submission regarding the app, The app has been designed so as not to date.
Available free through the app store, new issues can be uploaded at minimal cost to the Councils. The social media campaign has attracted 778 Facebook Likes and analytics are proving that the tablet strategy part of the marketing initiative is meeting its objectives by engaging the target demographic.
The Experience the Highs app, available for iPad and soon to be launched for iPhone, is one of the first travel apps to use high quality 360° panoramic images as the primary visual reference. This app provides both gyroscopic and touch control of the panoramas to enhance the immersive quality of the experience.
The app is not simply a rework of the printed Visitor Guide. Rather, it has been designed with the functional capabilities of the iPad in mind.
